Treating Windows in a Large Room
With all the “open concept” development that has gone on in the past several years, many homes now have great rooms that might have several windows—or even types of windows—in the space. At F&R Interiors serving the greater Los Angeles area, we’ve discovered that many of our customers find those sorts of rooms daunting to treat—trying to find the right features for the room’s needs while also dealing with continuity throughout the space. However, we have some ideas that might help you see that treating larger spaces can be easy. Read on to learn more!
Plenty of Natural Light
Many large spaces also have large windows, which means lots of sunlight, which can be a great benefit to a room. To complement that light, warm colors are a great option for your window treatments. You could go with beiges, browns, grays, and natural wood (such as Heritance® Hardwood Shutters or Provenance® Woven Wood Blinds).
Play Down the Height
Tall ceilings can make a room seem vast. However, adding dark fabrics on window treatments can alter the room’s lighting and create a cozier environment. If your room calls for privacy, add a liner to the back of the treatment, which will also help with room-darkening (important for bedrooms or media rooms). For great fabric options, be sure to check out the Hunter Douglas Design Studio™.
Insulating the Window
Duette® Cellular Shades can help insulate the window, because they’re designed with honeycomb construction, which traps the air in its pockets. Plus, with the Vertiglide™ mounting system, the honeycomb fabric can be flipped for vertical orientation, giving you even more flexibility in covering your windows, even if you have a mix of types.
Operating System
To make your life more convenient, select automation for your lift system. Whether you have drapes, blinds, shades, or shutters, PowerView® Automation will give you a hassle-free way to adjust them, even when you’re not at home, if you use the PowerView App on your smartphone. PowerView opens a whole new world of functionality, privacy, and safety for your home.
