Create More Curb Appeal
Even if you’re not planning to sell anytime soon, you might be interested in giving a boost to how your home looks from the outside—also known as curb appeal. Although some home owners are afraid it could be a huge undertaking, in fact, you can choose from many easy changes to make a big difference. At F&R Interiors serving the greater Los Angeles area, we’re happy to give you some ideas. Read on!
The Main Entry
Because it’s where people enter the home, the front door usually becomes a main focal point for the exterior. A new door can be a striking way to reshape the overall look. Or simply change its color with exterior paint. A new handle can go a long way toward creating an eye-catching look too. Even simple touches like a fun welcome mat or a wreath for the door can be an inexpensive yet classy way to decorate your entryway.
Update a Functional Asset
Has your eye ever been drawn to someone’s house funky, classy, or elegant house numbers? The same can be true of yours. Change out your porch house numbers for a striking look or update your mailbox (and the numbers) at the curb. You can add or replace flower boxes or planters or install a porch swing with colorful outdoor pillows and cushions for a fun and appealing relaxation zone. Also consider updating your porch or garage light fixtures to bring your home more into the overall aesthetic you want.
Your Windows From the Outside
If your front-facing windows have different treatments, your exterior look might seem jumbled and inconsistent. You can solve that by getting the same treatment for all the windows (which will improve the exterior look but might not offer the correct functionality in each room). Or look at some of the solutions Hunter Douglas offers, including having a common backing—either white or neutral—on certain treatments so that they look the same from the outside no matter what they look like inside each room. You can select this option with Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Silhouette® Window Shadings, Pirouette® Window Shadings, and more.
