2018 Color of the Year
Each year, a new “Color of the Year” is selected. Last year was the nature-inspired “Greenery,” and the year before, two colors shared the spotlight: “Rose Quartz” and “Serenity.” At F&R Interiors here in Los Angeles, we know that many people like to incorporate color into their homes, including each year’s trending color. If you’d like ideas on how to bring more color-whether it’s a little or a lot-into your home, speak with one of our representatives today.
How the Color Is Selected
Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at PANTONE explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices.
Why Do We Need Forecasted Colors?
All industries that produce a product for fashion, home furnishings, hospitality, and automotive follow forecasted trends. Each industry takes the forecasted color direction and adjusts it to their area and products. Warmer-climate colors may be lighter, and cooler-climate colors may be a bit darker than the actual forecasted color.
2018 PANTONE® Color of the Year
Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year is Ultra Violet 18-3838. It opens the mind to what lies ahead and beyond. Ultra Violet has traditionally been considered a mystical or spiritual color. You will see the purple-toned hue in communities that inspire connection, such as meditation spaces and other gathering places. Paired with metallic colors, you think luxurious. Paired with greens, it brings out nature. Perfect for days or evenings, you will see Ultra Violet in everything from eyewear to sneakers.
Bringing Ultra Violet to a Room
Remember, there’s nothing more satisfying than coming home to a comfortable space. With so many fabrics, textures, and colors to choose from, you’ll be able to add Ultra Violet to your walls, bedding, furniture, and more.
